The day our lives changed

I have been wanting to post about how I told Brian that we were having a baby. So I am doing this now that she is 6 months old!!! I will post it today, but after people get to read it I am going to change the date of the post to put it to the beginning. If you are a man, you may not want to read some of this.

Brian and I knew we wanted to get pregnant. My doctor told me when the best time of the month was for me, but when it came that time I was sick to my stomach. I remember being at Church and thinking I was going to throw up and all I wanted to do was go home and crawl into bed. Finally later that day, I started to feel better.

The date was Wednesday, Nov. 28th. I was at work and knew I was supposed to be starting my monthly. Everytime I would use the restroom, I would just pray to God, either let me start or let me be pregnant, but just let me find out today so I don't have to wait. I made it through the whole day of work, but was not heading home inbetween work and Bible study. SOOOO, instead I went to walgreens and bought a twin pack of pregnancy tests. I figured I could not pay for the pregnancy test and then go to the bathroom in the same store, so I left walgreens and went to walmart. I went into the bathroom at walmart and took the pregancy test. Then sat there and waited for the result, in the stall of all places!!! I know, such memories. Well obviously it came back positive!!!!!

I then went glowing through walmart and bought a bib that said "I Love Daddy" and a twin pack of binkies to surprise the new daddy.

Brian told me he wanted to be surprised and I needed to find a unique way of telling him we were having a baby. So that evening when he was getting off work, I had to hold my tongue and not say a word to him. If anyone knows me, I can not keep a secret like this. i said nothing to him on the phone. We both proceeded to go to our Bible Studies that night. I have no clue what we talked about, sorry girls!!! I left Bible study and had to beat Brian home. I hid the bib under his pillow and since the Christmas tree was up, I hid the binkies on the Christmas tree. I took the second pregnancy test so that it would still show positive when Brian came home, I guess to prove to him or something. As Brian was leaving his Bible Study, he called me. So again, I had to hold my tongue. Meanwhile he is talking about going paintballing the WHOLE time.

As he came in the house, he is STILL talking about paintballing and unpacking his stuff. i am just anxiously waiting for hiim to finish so I could tell him the news. He finally took a breath, and I told him that I had picked up a new Christmas ornament and that he had to find it on the tree. He was looking on the tree, but could not find them at all so I had to keep giving him hints. Finally, he found one of them and was totally confused. Not the reaction I was looking for. He turned around holding it up and as he looked at me I was standing there with the pregnancy test in my hand and he finally caught on.

I had warned Brian that he needed to have a good reaction when I told him because we would remember it for the rest of our lives. So when he finally caught on and looked at the pregnancy test, he grinned and said "Yea!!" Then said, "was that ok for a response?" Yes, Brian, we will remember that forever.

He later found the bib when we went to bed that night. I did have to give that bib away and get a different one though. The first one I got, was more of a boy bib and we found out we were having a girl!!!

Again, this was just for my rememberance of this day and to share it with Kaylee some day.

Kaylee is 3 weeks old!!!

So my first post is with Kaylee being 3 weeks old. It has been a great, but very busy three weeks: Family have been here, visits to Brian's work, and many, many naps (both Kaylee and mommy).

Kaylee is growing so big already.
When Kaylee was born she weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces. A few days after bringing her home from the hospital, she only weighed 6 pounds 2 ounces. Now at three weeks she is up to 7 pounds 12 ounces. She is a perfect baby when it comes to sleeping and soothing herself to sleep at night. She smiles all the a lot, but only when she is sleeping. I can't wait for her to react more to things and have more of awake time, but I know it will come soon. Then I will be wishing for more time to sleep.Brian is doing good. He is a proud daddy and alittle jealous of me staying home with Kaylee:)After Kaylee was born, I wondered what I was going to be doing all day with not working anymore. Let me tell you. I still have no clue what I do all day. Between feeding and trying to get a few minutes of sleep, cleaning, and just holding Kaylee, I am not sure where the day goes. I love every minute of it:)
