Another House project checked off the list

Brian and I decided to finally get our bedroom furniture that my parents help us purchase as a wedding present. When we ordered it, the furniture was not supposed to come in until the end of the month. They called four days later and told me that I could have it delivered the next week. I decided to keep it a secret from Brian, but also needed him to help pick out paint colors for the room, and paint the room before the furniture came. I almost completed that task. I ran out of paint the night before so had to finish painting one wall after the furniture arrived. Brian was very surprised.

His task was to put in a new closet system to help with storage. Let me tell you, it is very nice having a handy guy around!!! I think I will keep him.

Here is the closet while he is working on it:

Here is the finished project:

Now comes my favorite part and organizing everything. A doctor I used to work with tried to label me as OCD, I told her it was just being organized and to keep her labels (nicely of course).

And here is our new furniture, comes complete with a beautiful baby girl!!! The pictures don't do it justice you will have to come look for yourself.

Sorry for the light reflection, it is not spots on the furniture, just reflections.

We still have to get pictures on the wall and get the window treatments up.

By the way, it is Brian who has always told me he does not like the color brown and that he thinks it is a depressing color. It was also Brian who suggested that we do a brown/blue combo. Gold figure. I asked that if you have a wall in your house that looks like chocolate, will you crave chocoalte more or less?

Cute pictures

Just a cute picture for a dreary, rainy saturday morning!!!

By the way, these were taken after the explosion in the bathtub. There is just something about holding your naked baby in wrapped in a towel. Just so innocent and sweet!!

Piece of Advice

If you plan a date night and decide to head to something that is only open on the third friday of the month, you might want to make sure that today is actually the third friday of the month and not the fourth. Just wanted to give you a heads up so you don't make the same mistake twice. Your welcome.

Why?

Why is it when you just want to give your daughter a quick bath and get her into bed (because she only took a 30 minute nap during the day and is crabby), it just never seems to be possible?

Kaylee refused to take a nap today. Not sure what is going on there - I guess we will say it is more teeth:)

After supper I took her straight to the bath tub. I had her all cleaned up and was just letting her play for a few minutes. Then I saw it and there was a lot of it!! Before I could even react, she was reaching for it and was heading for her mouth:( I scooped her wet body up, sat her on the floor in the bathroom and then washed out the tub. Meanwhile, she was trying to crawl away, soaking wet and naked. Then I had to start all over again. Lets just say, it did not go as planned. Atleast my husband was helping me out by cleaning up the kitchen:)

Now it is time to go do the Wii Active!!!

Kaylee's One Year Scrapblog!!!

I finished Kaylee's one year scrapblog. Click on this link to view it. I am getting it printed so will hopefully have it soon.

Hopefully last birthday post

Here are a few fun things Kaylee got for her birthday.

From my brother Chad's family: She got a cute outfit that she has already been wearing and some bath letters that stick to the wall. We got those in late June in case we all couldn't get together this past weekend. I have not taken any pictures of her in the bathub lately to show off the letters and other toys we got.
From my parents: We got this slide. It has a small climbing wall on one side and then she go under it for a fort. They got it at a garage sale!!! I love garage sales!!

They also got her the giraffe riding too. She is getting the hang of it, although she has been using it as a walker by holding on to the front and pushing it so it goes backwards. Today she is getting the hang of it more. Earlier today she was trying to walk forwards with herother walker and drag this pulling it backwards. It was pretty cute.

From my sister Jill's family: They gave us an adorable outfit for this fall and next year. They also gave her a word wammer that is magnetic for the fridge. Kaylee loves noisy toys so this is good. She has already learned to put the letters in and out of it.

Birthday Party - again!!!

Friday night, my family came into town for Kaylee's one year party. We grilled out supper and then the kids had fun playing in the back yard.

Here is the birthday cake I made for Kaylee.

We gave her a small sliver of a piece. The only problem was, it was 8:30p.m. and so it pretty much bit us back at 12:30 that night when she woke up and was wide awake. It was not much fun.

We have a big slope in our backyard so if you look closely, you can see my brother-in-law taking the wagon down the slope. After dark the kids played ghosts in the graveyard. It was a lot of fun just having everyone together for a full evening.

On saturday, everyone was up early and we headed off to the zoo. It was pretty crowded but was a lot of fun. We got there just in time to see the stingrays for free. The kids did awesome, with little sleep and lots of crowds.
It was a very good first birthday party!! I will get some pictures of her with her new toys this week, but I am working on a surprise for my husband, and trying to finish Kaylee's one year album in the next few days so don't have time right now.

Hectic

What do 8 adults + 8 kids + 1 bathroom + sleepover + cookout + cake +ice cream + zoo trip = BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!!

Kaylee has her last birthday party today with my family. I am so excited. We don't get all the cousins together enough but tonight, most of us will be together. My brother that lives in Arizona will not be able to make it, but we ar hoping to see him this fall.

Tonight, my brother and his wife and four kids are coming. My sister and her husband and their three kids, and my parents. We are celebrating with a cookout and I made a butterfly cake ( I will post pictures later). Then tomorrow we are heading to the zoo!!!!

I am off to wash sheets and finish getting things cleaned up and ready. The only thing that makes me nervous about all this, we only have one bathroom!!! Can't wait to get the other bathroom in downstairs this fall.

Check-Up

Kaylee had her one year check up yesterday. She now weighs 23 pounds(75 percentile), and is a little over 30 inches long(90 percentile). She has flipped her stats on the chart. She has always been in the 90 percentile for weight and in the 75 percentile for height.

The doctor was very pleased to see all that she is doing. And about that. Last night, Brian ,Kaylee and I went to the Church to give blood. I again was refused because I have enough iron in me to be normal for me, but not enough to give. Brian on the other hand was able to give again. While Kaylee and I were waiting around, Kaylee decided she did not want to sit in the unbrella stroller any more she wanted to push it. She had to hold on the the blue handles (the very top part of the handle that I usually hold on to) and so I basically just held the handle under her to stablize the stroller so it did not get away from her. She walked like that for three laps around all the beds of people giving blood. This girl is not going to go much longer without walking on her own (atleast I would be very surprised).

I can see already her independence coming out. She is helping getting her shirt off in the mornings now. She gets a little upset when you try to help her with things. It is fun to see her growing up!!!

Kaylee's Birthday

I took Kaylee to the zoo on friday for her birthday. I had this planned for a while but was not sure if the weather would cooperate. Some other moms and their children were going to come along, but unfortunately on this friday, it decided to threaten to rain. I was a little bummed, but it turned out to be a pretty good day.

Tara and Bailey decided to brave the weather and join us.

When the sprinkles came we decided to ride on the train. Here is Kaylee and Bailey waiting patiently for the train. Kaylee is getting to the point where she wants to be independent and walk on her own, but she can't yet.

After the train ride, the rain was gone and the sun was out so we decided to go see the elephants and penguins. By the end of the morning, Kaylee was wiped out. She fell asleep as we were heading to the car. She slept all the way home and then took another nap that afternoon.

1 Years Old!!!

Kaylee,

I just can't believe it. 1 year ago today, our lives changed, and it couldn't be any better. Last year just before this time, this was going on. It was the scariest thing I have ever been through. We were afraid we were going to lose you. This tiny being in me that we had become so attached to, and we could not wait to get you in our arms to KNOW that you were ok.

I remember all the doctors being in the room to evaluate you in case something was wrong. They did not lay you on my belly after you came out so I had not really seen you yet. The first time I saw you, I could not take my eyes off of you. You were perfect, and from then on you have given us nothing but joy and happiness. (hence the title of the blog!!!)

We are so proud of you. I can not believe how things have changed in this past year. I can see so much of your personality coming out lately. You are very intrigued by everything around you. Nothing, or no one, gets by you without you noticing. You are full of smiles and bring joy to everyone in the room.

I love every minute of being a "stay at home mom." You have become so busy now that you are getting around and I can tell you are going to keep me very busy when you start to walk on your own.

You are learning where you eyes, mouth, and nose are. Most of the time you get them right.

You can say baby, mom, dad, yea, and possibly clock (it is still up for debate if that is actually what she said)

You make a mooooing sound when asked what a cow says, but you also make the same sound when asked what any animal says, but oh well.

You love to walk, with assistance. Can't get enough of it, actually.

You have 13 teeth in and one more about to pop through.

You eat about everything in sight, on the floor and on your plate:) If there is fruit in sight, you want it.

You love to imitate everything everyone else does; coughing, drinking from a cup, and may more.

You are such a good little girl. I think Daddy and I are spoiled to have such an even tempered, easy going little girl like you. We love you so much and most importantly, God loves you even more!!!
Here are some "1 Year Pictures" Brian and I took.

Notice the shirt she is wearing!!! I did a little photoshop to help you see it. It says "I'm 1"

Vacation in Ohio

Brian, Kaylee, and I spent a week in Ohio at Brian's parents house. Here is our week in review in a picture book form:)

On friday, we all went to a water park. It was nice outside but the water was cold. There wasn't as much for Kaylee to do so I felt a little bad, but she made it through the day and that was good. I thought this picture was hilarious. Brian looks a little cold!!

On saturday, we went to the Fourth of July parade. She really enjoyed that.

Uncle Kevin and Aunt Laura came for the weekend also. Not sure if everyone enjoyed the parade. It was a line of fire trucks from about every division and a showing of peoples cars rather than marching bands. It was a little different but still a good time.

We had a birthday celebration for Kaylee. Brian and I made an angel food cake and then mixed in raspberry yogurt and raspberry sugar free jello, along with raspberries and blueberries. That was her one year cake. As you can see, she loved the blueberries.

Here she is opening a few gifts:

We had to leave the slide at Grandma and Grandpas for now, it would not fit in the car.
Also on saturday, we went the the air force museum.

Kaylee is a pilot in training

We saw our shadows at the museum:)
and we contributed our share of money to the cause. I think grandma brought about 50 pennies to drop in.
We went to see fireworks also and Kaylee loved them. You can read about that post if you scroll down.
On sunday, We went to Church and Kaylee wanted nothing to do with the nursery. I guess she is used to our nursery and nothing compares!!!
On Monday, Brian and I had a date day:)
We went biking - about 25 miles or so.

We went putt putting. He won overall, but I got 2 holes in one:)

Then it was out to dinner and we walked around town some. We even got measured for bikes. They do this weird measurement on you and tell you how your bike should be fit for you. How high the seat, handle bars and other things. It was a lot of fun.

Tuesday it was park day.

Then wednesday, we had to drive home. Brian's Aunt Trudy came in town late tuesday night so we got to meet and visit with her wednesday morning. I did not get any pictures, they are on her camera though.
It was a long, great week. We are glad to be at home, but now I have to getg things back in order around here:)
