Marble Painting
Kaylee, AJ, and I did a little marble painting. They loved it. In case you have not done it, just have a shoe box, paint, and a marble. Squirt some paint into the shoe box and then roll the marble around. They loved it!!!

The things kids say (and do)
Kaylee is really starting to say some funny things. I need to get a notebook so I can write them down right away instead of trying to remember them later.
The one that stands out to me the most lately is:
We were sitting at supper the other night and out of the blue Kaylee says "My daddy says noooooo, Happy birthday daddy!!" all in one breath. I cracked up. We have no idea what she was talking about and his birthday was over two weeks ago.
She has also taken to drawing. This is not the coloring that she normally does where the lines on the paper are the length of the whole paper. This is actual drawing and she tells us what she is drawing, thankfully. It is not recognizable in any way, but she is so articulate it is pretty neat. I am impressed with how well she is holding the pen correctly and her imagination of what she wants to draw.
I watch a little four year old boy for the afternoons. Kaylee has enjoyed having an "older brother" but not sure this boy likes to have a "younger sister." Kaylee loves to copy EVERYTHING he does. If he comes with a hat on, she immediately has to find her hat and wear it all day. Wherever he goes, she goes. It is pretty entertaining until he gets upset that he is being followed all day. Kaylee will get her turn being followed in due time:)
As far as the pregnancy is going: things are going great. Brian and I are trying to come to a decision on a name. With Kaylee, we only had one name on our minds and it was easy. With this one, I like one name, he likes the other. Neither of us want to give in. We will see. We are also doing the nursery in an aquarium theme and making a finding nemo out of styrofoam to hang on the wall. I thought it would be easy to find fish things in orange and blue, but it is not:( Oh well, I don't need much, as we stayed somewhat general on most things when we had Kaylee. I have picked up a few things for the nursery and for his first few months of life. It is going to be different with this one being born in the winter, but am really excited for his arrival!!!

Proud Momma
Kaylee,
You have made me a very proud momma. I have been so worried to potty train you as you really weren't showing too many of the signs of being ready, but you have proved me wrong. We started potty training you sunday afternoon, after a failed nap. you caught on pretty fast and peed on the potty a couple of times that evening. On monday, your mother gave you so much water and juice that you had to go to the bathroom every 15 minutes:) That didn't help much since you didn't want to spend the ENTIRE day on the potty. You still did great and only had a few accidents trying to get to the potty but not quite fast enough.
Tuesday, you did awesome. you stayed all dry until the evening. Your mother had another bright idea to let you skip your nap and play instead. By evening you were so tired and while outside playing with your daddy, you had your first accident of the day. You were upset by we reassured you it was ok.
Wednesday was your best day ever!! You stayed dry all day and even went on the potty at another person't house. You have not mastered pooping in the potty yet. You have gone some, but then still go more either in your pull up at nap time or in your underwear. It will come in time.
Lately, I have noticed you do the "potty dance" instead of telling me you have to go. We have to work on that one. I will not always be around you to catch your signals.
All worries aside, you have made this momma very proud. You have taken a very difficult thing to learn as a child into something so easy for you. Once again, you are too smart for me:)
I love you Kaylee and keep pushing your mother to challenge you in other ways too. Who knows may be you will be off to college by age 6. Ok, lets hope not. I can't handle that one, sorry honey.

Adventures in Potty Training
Adventure? Not really sure I should be calling it that.
We started yesterday afternoon. I had it in my head to start then but Kaylee decided to not take a nap. I almost decided to forgo the whole idea, but then decided to go for it. We set the timer for 30 minutes, and showed Kaylee her sticker chart. We played up the whole thing and she seemed very excited. She went the whole 30 minutes dry, but could not go on the potty after sitting there for a while. I decided to put her in big girl panties to see what she would do. After about 5 minutes, she had an accident on the floor. She stopped when we said someting and then tried to go the rest on the potty. I put a new pair of panties on and about 5 minutes later she had another accident. I was ready to forgo the whole thing again. I talked myself out of giving up and figured it was going to take longer than 10 minutes to get her potty trained.
The rest of the evening she did great. She went probably 5 times and never really had to wait for the timer. Before the 30 minutes was up, she was telling us she needed to go and she would go in the potty.
Today, she woke up dry and we sat on the potty for 30 minutes before she went, but she did go. She had one accident this morning, but other than that she is doing great. She even pooped on the potty!!! She continues to tell me when she needs to go instead of waiting for the timer.
This afternoon, the boy I watch came over and everything went down hill from there. She had two accidents and is not really interested in going potty. I am hoping this afternoon after a good nap will be different. She is doing so well I hope it keeps going, otherwise, I need to get more carpet cleaner!!

Gymnastics
Kaylee had a playdate at a gymnastics class the other day. She was a little timid at first, there was about 100 kids there, but then she warmed up pretty well.
She loved the parachute and cried when it was over. Wish you could do it with just two people and have one in your home - it just would not be the same.
The tongue pushed against the side of the mouth is a recurring theme these days. Pure concentration!!!
I loved this face also. Not the best picture since I am taking it through a mirror but her face just cracked me up.

Peaches and 2 year old checkup
Kaylee and I decided to beat the heat this morning and go pick peaches - for free!!! Momslikeme.com told us about a great opportunity. Today only, kids could go to the Belleville, IL Eckerts and pick 4 pounds of peaches for free. That was about 10 peaches, but plenty for us. Kaylee had so much fun. 
Do me a favor and look past the purple shoes with the red and blue outfit - this girl has outgrown all of her sandals for the summer and I just don't want to buy more when it is almost over. Read down further to see how much this girl has grown lately.
As far as Kaylee's 2 year old checkup. She now is 36 3/4 inches tall and weighs 29 pounds and 12 ounces. She is 97% for height and 80% for weight. He said that she is perfect and TALL!!! She has grown 4 inches in 6 months!! I knew she had grown but man!! No wonder why we can't keep any clothes on this child. He was impressed with her communication skills and coordination. They gave me a sheet to do with her while we waited for the doctor to come in. They said it was for 2-3 year olds so not to worry if she couldn't do it since she was just 2 years old. Well - she could do everything but three things out of the 20 or so!! The only things she had a hard time with was jumping over a piece of paper laid on the floor with both feet, and two questions that had to do with answering some questions: What do we do when we are tired, what is a chair for? Things that we talk about about but don't normally ask her in that way so she was a little lost. No biggie:)
She was a trooper getting a few shots too. The only thing I have to do now is get her into an eye doctor. I noticed a spot/bump on her eye (actually it has been there since birth but our other ped didn't do anything about it, this one did) and he wants me to have it checked out. It is very small and he had a hard time seeing it, but when he did see it, he recommended just having it checked out. I will update when we get to that appointment. We are not worried about it until they tell me that she has to have it removed:( I am not looking forward to that.

SHARK!!!
I decided to take Kaylee to Brian's parents house for the week. This was the first time I was to take Kaylee on a long car ride by myself. I was a little reluctant but she did great. It normally takes about 6 hours to get there but we took 7 both ways. We had a lunch stop and LOTS of construction that slowed us down both ways. She is such an easy traveler. Between our DVD player and toys, she was very occupied the whole way.
We got there monday evening and just spent the day at grandma and grandpa's house. Then tuesday, grandma had her last day of Bible study so Kaylee and I ran a couple of errands for hte morning. In the afternoon, we headed to an outdoor mall that had water spouts in the middle that Kaylee played in. I got to go to a few of the stores by myself and picked up a really cute outfit for our son!! Kaylee also had a balloon butterfly made. I laughed so hard when she would put it between her legs and say "ride it."
On wednesday, I took off for the day. I had the opportunity to go to IKEA and then an outlet mall. Got some great deals on things. Kaylee went with grandma to a few places too. Here are some pictures from there day:

On thursday we headed to the newport aquarium. Kaylee had one thing on her mind, SHARKS!!
We had to bypass most everything else until we got to the sharks for her. Then we could go back to the rest of the aquarium. It is a pretty neat aquarium. Fish are swimming all around you and even over you.
On friday, we headed home to be with daddy again. We missed daddy and both were excited to see him, and have him put the things I bought at IKEA together:)
