Our little Penguin

This week has been a little bit of a rollercoater. Brian is finally feeling better but we decided we better not do much for halloween. I couldn't let things go by without getting Kaylee dressed up though. We made her this penguin costume (in about 5 minutes. I kept putting it off since he was sick and I knew that we weren't doing anything). Ithink she is the cutest penguin ever!!

To top off the night, we are downstairs watching Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Kaylee's first movie!! She lasted about 10 minutes and is now playing:)

Frustrated

Brian's fever came back tonight. I pretty much knew it was going to but was hoping I was wrong. He is doing ok, but very worn out and having a hard time sleeping. I decided to take Kaylee and head to my sister's house. I felt that Kaylee and I were out of the woods of getting sick, and Brian really needed sleep. Something of which he could not get with us in the house. I am hoping I am not wrong about Kaylee and I and am not bringing it to my sister's house, but it sounds like it is going around in their school too anyways. Kaylee has been on tamiflu for a few days now and neither of us are showing any signs all week.

I think the most frustrating part of all of this is how long it lasts. Brian is getting tired of laying around, but that is all he can do right now. Keep praying for fast recovery and for much needed rest. Also that I did not make the wrong decision of bringing Kaylee to my sister's house.

On the Mend

We are on the mend here. I have to admit, that Kaylee and I have not stayed home all day though, like we probably should be. We did get out for a short time today. We dropped off the items that our friends will need for the weekend that I had, and ran a short errand. I took precautions and used antibacterial wipes before and after I touched anything though.

Kaylee and I are not showing signs of getting the flu and Brian seems to be feeling much better. I have mixed feelings that if he wakes up in the morning with no temp that we may still be able to go this weekend. The doctor told him that he is only contagious for 48 hours after his temp is gone but I have heard differently too. I guess we will make that decision if that happens. I am still bummed we may not be going. I have really been wanting to connect on a deeper level with all of these girls and this would have been a great opportunity for that.


Anyways, I am very happy that Brian is on the up and up!! Maybe he can come out of the quarantine room:) I guess as long as he keeps his mask on!!

These were taken before Brian got sick, but this is exactly what we have been doing for the past few days while being in the house.
Brian hung the swing in our basement. It is great on rainy days and will be awesome this winter.

I just can't get enough of her laugh.

Brian's parents got Kaylee this slide for her birthday. We kept it in the garage for the time being thinking that she too little for it. Well, last week, Kaylee and I were in the garage and she marched right over to it and climbed up the stairs and then slid down. I couldn't believe that she climbs up something that big already. No fear on her part. Now, not only is she climbing up it she carries her baby up it also. She normally does it a lot faster, but when the camera is rolling, you never can get them to perform:)

The dreaded Swine flu:(

Yep, Brian was diagnosed with the swine flu. Yuck. We spent two hours at the walgreens clinic early this morning, then our day began. Phone calls to his work, calls to cancel the kids I watch in the week, and phone calls and emails to family. Now, since then, he has slept the whole day, and I mean the whole day. I am not sure how he does it, but I guess that is good. I did go ahead and get Kaylee a small dose of the tamiflu to hopefully prevent her from getting it. I here it is pretty bad when you are that young so avoiding it if I can. We may actually go to my parents house but not sure. I was kind of hoping that once he is on the tamiflu for 24 hours that he is not contagious anymore (you know, like strep throat). I am just not sure that is how the flu works.

So, anyways, we are home for the whole week. Brian was told he needs to take 5-7 days off work. It is bittersweet that we get daddy home from work, but not good that he is sick and really can't be around us this week.

It is also hard as we had some great plans for the weekend. Kaylee was going to spend the weekend at my sisters house with my mom and my nieces and nephew. Brian and I were going with our small groups to one of the dads house and spending the weekend there. In one way, I am ok with not going as it was going to be my first time leaving Kaylee over night. I have to admit, I was getting a little anxiety about it but I knew I had to do it. I am just sad to be missing the weekend with some great friends.

It is also hard, because what man really handles being sick well? I don't think I am good at taking care of people who are sick. Kaylee has not been sick yet, but Brian has been and I never handle it well. I just don't have the patience, sorry honey.

Well, anyways, I guess I will be done feeling sorry for myself and go take care of my husband. Say a prayer for us and especially for Kaylee to not get it and Brian to get well FAST!!!

No Pets Allowed!!

I have to admit, I had pets growing up. I remember having cats and dogs, not at the same time though. Lately, I am starting to realize that Kaylee loves animals and it may only be a matter of time before we have pets:(

Anytime we are out for a walk and she spots a dog, she immediately has to go to it, sit down on the ground, and then she expects the dog to come over to her and lay down next to her for her to pet it. It is pretty cute. She not only loves dogs, but fish and cats too. Her pediatricians office has a fish tank and that is the first place she goes as soon as we walk in the door. Not that we have been there often, I am surprised she remembers.

On saturday night, some friends of ours watched Kaylee for Brian and I. We took Kaylee to their house so she could play with the fish and kitties. It was fun to watch and they took some pictures for us too.

I do have to say though: I am sticking to my guns with no pets for now. I just can't do it in this house.

The other kittie, finally let her catch up. Another surprising thing, she is not rough with any of the animals. She is very gentle.

And then the fish: Oh how she loves the fish. I love this picture with the cat looking at Kaylee also. I think the cat is wondering if she is going to give her a fish:)

I guess it has been a while since I have blogged:) Not much has been happening around here, and I really haven't gotten the camera out lately either. Many of you know that I have started to watch our neighbor's daughter full time. That is going great and Kaylee loves her so much.

I went to the Baby Mania sale on saturday- kid free!!!- and with a friend. We got some great bargains. I even got an older model of a sit-n-stand stroller for $10. I have to clean it up but now this week I can take both girls for walks since it is supposed to be nicer. I also got Kaylee a few Christmas gifts.

Brian and I went on a date night saturday night also. Some friends watched Kaylee for us - which I have heard that she loved their cats and chased them around the whole time. Brian and I went out to eat and played the glow in the dark putt putt - only because I had two free games that I won from something else. It was a great night to relax.

I have been trying to lose a few pounds - for two reasons:

1. just because I want to tone and lose some.

2. Brian and I booked a cruise for just the two of us!!! I can't wait!! We are counting it as our 3 Year anniversary present.

So, I started counting calories. I found out how many I can eat in a day to lose a certain amount of weight each week. It is a little time consuming, but has been paying off. I have already lost 6 pounds in a few weeks.

I guess that is all that has been going on in this household. What has been happening in yours?

15 Months Old

Kaylee Grace,

I can not believe you are 15 months old. You are losing so many of your baby qualities and turning into such a toddler. Not only are you walking, but you are trying to run now. You also have started to dance when you hear music and it is just too cute. You know lots of animal sounds and now we are starting learn the alphabet. The past few months have been so much fun. It is fun being so active with you and you love to get outside (actually, you beg for it everyday, rain or shine). We have both had to adjust to staying at home more without having a car, but so far it has not been a big issue. You have also adjusted very well to having a little one in the house, practice for being a big sister!!!

You now weigh 25 1/2 pounds and are 31 1/2 inches tall. Your are in the 75 percentile for both!!!

Daddy and I recently took you to the apple/pumpkin orchard. It was so much fun. I couldn't decide between the 439 pictures that we took, so you get to see them all:) just kidding, but here is quite a few.

P.A.T. update

Kaylee had another apointment with her Parents as Teachers lady this morning. Penny is wonderful with Kaylee. Even with a broken ankle, she still gets on the floor with Kaylee and plays right there with her. I feel like this program is such a boost for moms also. It is nice to have someone tell you your child is doing great!!!

Kaylee continues to amaze us all. She is just so smart. Today she had Kaylee putting objects into a container that had a very small opening. At first Kaylee didn't know what to do. Once we showed her how to do, one time, she did it over and over again. It was fun to see her learn so fast. As I posted earlier she is becoming more and more vocal too. I think this is my favorite age so far!!!

A Time to Dress Up!!!

On Saturday, Brian and I got the opportunity to attend a good friends wedding. I have know Amy for about 5 years or so and Brian has known Adam for about 4 years or so. Adam was a groomsman in our wedding so it was great to be able to share in their special day.

Here is Brian and I all ready to go. We don't get many opportunities to get all dressed up, so it was extra special.We also had GREAT babysitters so we got to have a night out on our own!!! This is Anne and Andy. They have watched Kaylee a few times while we have attended another Bible Study and so Kaylee warms up to them pretty quick. She goes right to them when she sees them come in the front door. It is nice to have great friends who will care for our daughter also.

I'm a big kid now....

Kaylee is growing up so fast these days. Lately, I have been able to tell her to go grab a book from the shelf in her room and she marches right in and grabs a book and brings it back to me. If I ask her if she wants to eat, she goes to the refrigerator. She will shake her head no at food that I get out for her until I come across what she wants, or she will get in the fridge and grab it herself. I have to monitor this.

She can throw her own diapers away in the trash. She also knows what a puppy and a snake say, in addition to many others. She is becoming more vocal too.

It really seems to me that she is learning about five new things a day. I can't keep up with her. I have some pictures to share with you from our weekend but I am going to wait until her 15month birthday to show them to you. They are pretty cute.

I have been tired lately and Brian came home early from work yesterday not feeling well. I am hoping Kaylee and I do not get it. I think I am tired because I am taking care of a 5 month old now and I am not used to the two kids. I will get used to it though:)

Things are going well right now, Kaylee has her parents as teachers tomorrow so I will update how that goes.

Now on to supper and the biggest loser!!!

A little Jealous?

I started watching my neighbors daughter this week. She is almost 5 months old and is pretty easy to take care of. I wondered how Kaylee would do with having someone else in the house. I can only show you the back of her head until I get permission from her parents to have her on the blog:)
Kaylee has already shown signs of being a little "mommy." When Grace cries, she gets the pacifier for her and puts it in her mouth. Surprising, since Kaylee never took a pacifier. She has been pretty good with her though. Sharing mommy all of a sudden has gone over pretty well. We are practicing sharing our toys. Lot to learn on that one!!!

I have seen some signs of her getting a little jealous though:

She has found a new obsession with wanting to sit in the bouncer seat again. She liked it as a baby so why not? She can even turn on the vibrater by herself and wil gather a few toys and play with them in the bouncer. It is pretty cute.

I keep telling Brian that this is showing us that Kaylee is ready for a brother or sister, he just laughs. I guess it is pretty good practice for me too, dealing with two little ones:)
