Ok ladies I need some help. I think I am going through a mid life crisis. I want a new hairstyle but don't know what to do. Rachel did this once and soI thought I would give it a try. Here arethree ideas but I am not sure on any of them. Give me your input please.

My hair is very fine and so it is hard to do some hairstyles. I have them numbered so it should be easy to vote. If only I could look like the model in the pictures that would be great also.

Thanks for voting!!!

Persistence pays off

Well I amtrying to be persistent about laying Kaylee in her crib for a naptime. She has gotten used to sleeping in her car seat if we are out, or in the swing but hates her crib during the day. She does great at night so I can not complain.

Well today, I stayed persistent. I would let it go for about 5 minutes and then let her know I love her and then walk back out. After doing that a few times, she is also persistent, I finally rocked her for a few minutes and then laid her back down. She is finally asleep. I am not sure how long it will last but I am enjoying it for now.

I know some of you are thinking, "why has it taken you so long to do this?" Well you have to live and learn on your first child. I guess I kept giving myself the excuse that she was only a few weeks, or a few months old. Well now when she is in the nursery, the workers look at me weird if she will not go to sleep on her own. I guess I finally realized that I didn't like that look and wanted to tuff it out a few days.

Well now as I am writing this she is waking up again. The nap officially lasted 10 minutes.

This may take a while:)

Look-a-Like

So many people say that Kaylee looks like Brian. I agree, but I must say that she also looks like me. Here is a picture of me as a baby and then Kaylee. My picture is obviously the orangish color one as it is a little old.:)

Look at those chubby cheeks!!!

Blessing

Can I just tell you how much of a blessing from God Kaylee is. Let me explain.

I had the easiest pregnancy from the beginning. I did not have morning sickness, I was worn out but that is normal. At 33 weeks it all changed. One night, in the middle of the night, I woke up to really bad itchy hands and feet. I went down on the computer and googled it and it talked about high liver levels. I called my doctor the next morning and she sent me for blood work. Sure enough I was diagnosed with cholestasis. Basically my doctor said that it was sludge in my bile ducts. This means that acid was getting to my baby. The main risk factor: Still birth.

My sister did some research for me and found a website. http://www.itchymoms.com/ for those of you who want to read about it. The reason why I am bringing this up now, I just now looked at the website. Not that I did not appreciate my sister doing the research, it is just that she warned me that they is a memorial for babies who did not make it. I was not able to look at it until today.

I feel so blessed that God let me deliver a healthy baby and pray for moms who lose their babies at 33-36 weeks of pregnancy.

I am not trying to depress anyone. Just get the word out about this disease because with proper monitoring, even with being diagnosed with this, you can deliver a healthy baby.

Update: I have read through mutiple medical journals that there is a 70% recurring rate in future pregnancies and that this is so rare that it is only seen in about 1% of pregnancies here in the United States, but is slightly more common elsewhere. It also may be genetic.

Play time

I took these pictures yesterday while working with Kaylee at some playtime. I will have to photoshop my finger out of the second one.

no sleep:(

Well I think Kaylee is sick. It is just her nose being stuffed up but all last night I was up with her because she was having a hard time breathing. I kept sucking out what I could with the famous "booger sucker" but still was very nervous. I had her sleep in her bouncer so she was more upright and I slept on the couch next to her. Poor girl. The pharmacist gave me some nose drops that is salt and water basically and that seemed to help get everything cleared. Hopefully she will sleep today and feel better. I think we are canceling our balloon race plans and working around the house instead of fighting traffic.

By the way, I have never typed the word booger so I am not sure if I am spelling it correctly.

So Sad

Well I finally had to do it. I had to pack up Kaylee's 0-3 month clothes because she really cannot fit into them anymore. It is sad because she is only 2 months old. It seems so weird to pack them up. I know there may be a good chance I will get them back out for another child but if we have a boy I think they will stay in storage:)

Today is such a bummer day. I am not in a good mood today and don't think I will get much done on my to-do list that is listed inmy previous post.

Balloon Fest

This weekend is the Balloon Fest in Forest Park. Tonight is the balloon glow. If you have never been and like hot air balloons I suggest you go. Make sure it is not too windy though because last year was a bust because of the wind. Tomorrow is the balloon race. I have never been to that but Brian, Kaylee, and I are going to go tomorrow. I will post pictures later. It is a lot of fun. You can take a picnic lunch or buy food there. Great picture opportunities and just a fun day for the family.

Agenda for the day:
Vacuum the house
Do laundry
Take a nap
Have some "tummy time" with Kaylee
Figure out what is for supper and then cook it
Relax with husband tonight and try to get some stress relief
Maybe learn photoshop some more.

Does anyone use photoshop? It is so difficult to learn, atleast to me. I have bought 2 books to try to learn it and really haven't opened them much except to do something here and there to a picture. I think I feel a bit overwhelmed with it all.

Well better check on Kaylee. She is still sleeping!!!!

up down day

So today started out great. I attended a Moms and Tots morning at our church and found out some great things to do with Kaylee when she gets older. I am super excited to do them now but since she is only 2 months old, they may have to wait.

Then when I get home, I was messing with my blog and it somehow got deleted. I was so bummed that I almost started crying.

Also, Kaylee has been doing this things lately and I am not sure if I should try to do something different or just let her work it out. Lately she has been only nursing for aboutfive minutes on one side and then will not eat any more. Now the child is 2 months old but weighs the same as a 4 month old, but that is not the point. Maybe this is just a stage but not sure how to get her out of it.

Then I had to get supper made. I made a meatloaf since my dad was over. I sure wish I could make my grandmother's recipe. She has passed so I can't even learn to cook from her, but she was a great cook.

Well, now my husband and father are at Lowes getting drywall and 2x4's for a remodeling project I am super excited for.

So that is my up down day.

I guess I need a nice long bath, Oh wait, I don't like baths. I will figure something out.

Smile for the Camera!!!

This is Kaylee's new fun thing to do!!!

I have to say I am enjoying it tremendously.

I thought this was funny until it ended up all down the front of her. You can see it on her clothes in most of the pictures.
She is such a ham!!!!

Bummer

Being sick while either being pregnant or breastfeeding is about the worse thing there is. You are not allowed to take anything. Brian and I both got sick while I was pregnant and so I went to Walgreens to see what I could get for the two of us. He got some great medicine and I could only take cough medicine.

Now we are both sick again, and I can only take throat lozenges and he gets the good stuff again. Luckily, I think it is all allergy related this time so hopefully it will pass soon.

Tall, Chubby Baby!!!

Kaylee had her 2 month check up today. She now weighs 13.2 pounds and is 23 inches long. That puts her at 75th percentile for height and 97th percentile for weight. In the past 9 weeks she has grown 4 inches and gained almost 7 pounds. Don't you just wish you could do that as an adult? Ok, not really.

Kaylee also has an appointment on Oct. 2nd with an ENT person. When Kaylee was born they told us that she has what they call tongue-tied. It is nothing serious and we could do nothing about it, but Brian and I decided to get a second opinion. So I am taking her to Children's, since I used to work their and having one of the people their tell me that we can either fix it or do nothing. If they fix it, it would be done just in the office with local anesthetics.

Kaylee got four shots today and is now sleeping from the trauma.

Question for all

Alright, I need some help here from the five who read this blog:) Hopefully there is more, but I am not sure. Maybe you can share this question with other people and I will get lots of advice.Anyways, on to the question.

Kaylee is 2 months old now. She was born four weeks early though, and so I am not sure if that matters. How much awake time is she supposed to be having during the day? The reason why I am asking this question is because it seems like she sleeps alot during the day but then between 9-11p.m. she wants to be awake. Should I encourage more awake time during the day so that she goes to bed around 10 p.m? On the flip side, going to bed at 11p.m. she will then sleep until 3:30a.m. and then eat and then go back to sleep pretty easy, most nights, and then sleep until 6:30-7a.m. So maybe the 11p.m. bedtime is normal right now and that is what she needs.

Also, did your kids eat frequently before bed? I know they say they stock up on the milk so they will sleep longer, but she wants to eat every one to two hours before eventually falling alseep. So she will eat at 7p.m, 9p.m, and then maybe again at 10p.m. before going to bed at 11p.m.

So can you tell I am a first time mom? You can tell me to not worry about these things and just let her do things on her own. I am just trying to not have a child later that is not going to sleep correctly and so if I need to start dong things differently now, I will. The sleeping thing is a whole other story also. Maybe I will get into that later.:)

We have our 2 month doctor visit today so I will probably ask him also to see what he says.

Ah the Swing!!

I was going to post today saying that I loved the swing and it was the greatest invention ever. This morning Kaylee loved the swing and so did mommy. I got a lot done around the house after I took these pictures.

Then, when I tried it again this afternoon so I could get supper going this is what happened. I guess you only get one shot a day or something.
Kaylee is going through this phase that she needs to be held all day. Even when she falls asleep, and I try to lay her down, she immediately wakes up screaming. People in stores have told me she is bored. Ok, my two month old is already bored, now what do I do?

Hiking

Brian and I decided to go hiking on Labor day at Lone Elk park. We almost saw an Elk but it was mating season and there were signs to be very cautious. Another couple on the trail told us there was one up ahead blocking the trail so we decided to not go that way. Brian did spot a deer in the grass though.

I thought these pictures of Kaylee were so cute. She did great the whole day and was such a trooper riding in the carrier.
