Weekend in Indy

This past weekend (thursday-saturday) we went to Indy to spend some time with my brother and his family. Of course, I forgot my camera and so I don't have any pictures of it, but trust me, it was FUN!!!

The few days included:

Kaylee playing with her five year old cousin and having lots of fun.

I had the priviledge of babysitting their two younger kids friday afternoon during which, my 2 year old nephew took off all of his clothes, including his diaper, and peed all over the bathroom floor (guess he decided to potty train himself), he then came down the stairs with nothing on and was so proud of himself. This, followed by him repeatedly taking off his diaper and wanting a new one.

Their oldest son also turned 11 earlier in the week, his birthday cake request? a bowl full of chocolate chip cookie dough!!! He knows what is good:)

Brian and I got a night out for our anniversary. We had a great dinner out and good conversation, although we did still talk about our kids, it is hard not to:)

I love getting together with my brother and his family. Their are lots of good conversations and dreams that we hope come true soon:)

Then on saturday, we met up with Brian's family at the children's museum. A little chaotic, but fun. Highlights with pictures courtesy of his dad: Kaylee found a new look: This is what Carson thinks of it:) Cousin, Emma, who found herself in the mirrors:

Walking on stilts with Grandma: Building things and getting a good arm workout in the meanwhile:
Fishing and getting all sorts of wet:
and of course, finding out how many of us it takes to drive our mother crazy (just kidding, she loved the mirror maze)
It was a great weekend, until we heard about the snow we were coming home to. I am so ready for spring and getting outside.

Could it be?

Could it be that my 2 1/2 year old is done taking naps? Maybe it is just a phase?

This week, the three days that she took a nap in the afternoon (from 1-2:30) she could not fall asleep until 9p.m. The other days that she did not take a nap, she fell asleep promptly at 7p.m.
On the days she does not take a nap, she does not seem to be melting down in the evenings either. I really can't tell much difference in the afternoon between the days.

Please tell me this too shall pass and I can have my break in the afternoon? I am not ready to give that up.

MissMatched

That was the theme of the baby shower I threw for a friend. It was so much fun.

Part of the goodies:) The cake was a cheescake. yummy!!!
I decided to forego the traditional baby shower games and do a craft instead. It was inspired by this website. It was so much fun!!! If you look closely on the table behind them you can see the two I made.
The guest of honor showing off her craft.
We are anticipating the arrival of little Breanna Avery Mackey

Anniversary

I need some cheap but fun ideas for Brian and I to do for our four year anniversary this month. What fun things, besides going out to eat, have you done for anniversaries, or just dates for that matter?

Spring is on the way!!!

It is finally March and I am anticipating the smell of the spring flowers, hearing the children playing outside at the school behind our house, and feeling the warm air on the back of my neck. Ok, maybe we have a little while longer for that last one, but it is coming.
Do you remember the start of last spring? The first really warm day that you could get the kids out of the enclosed house and onto the wooden swing sets (sidenote: I wish we had a flat backyard and could get one of these in our backyard. It would be so much fun. Alas, the neighborhood parks will have to do).
Remember the first day you could open all of the windows to air out the stench that happens in a house over the course of the winter? Feeling that fresh air just blow through the house? I can not wait!!! Spring cleaning, here I come:) yes people, I love to spring clean. I hate cleaning in the winter when the furnace is running but love it when the windows are open and the sun is shining, weird huh?
I can not wait to have some really good days to get the kids out and photograph them on the playgrounds and swinging. Carson may not be doing too much on the playgrounds, but Kaylee will be a lot of fun. She practiced swinging on a "big girl" swing earlier when we had a fluke warm day. She did really well with it and I think may try to learn the technique this summer. She has also been begging to get her bikes out so she can ride on the sidewalk.
Anyways, happy first day of March!!!
